All three initial concepts were based on creating a brand for Hobart around my idea of Hobart being a city of treasures. However I forgot to bring my own personal experience to the project. I was basing these concepts on what I thought were treasures in the eye’s of others, not my own. I could not start branding without expressing my own experience first. So I started at the beginning, with my own experience of discovering Hobart’s many treasures. Using my strength in photography I travelled around Hobart with my camera, simply documenting the ‘treasures’ that I discovered while exploring the unique city of Hobart. This has lead to the final outcome.
My final body of work is my journey of discovery around Hobart’s City. They are presented as film strips, forming a image based narrative/ sequence of events, which best visually demonstrates my journey. Subtly alongside each photo is a short descriptions based on my experience. I stumbled across artists such as Kevin Wilson, Li Wei, Martin Wilson and more, with a slightly similar idea and technique of documenting narratives, sequences of events and elements of chance. My aim is to open the eye’s of local Hobartians to places they have never been before as well as giving tourists a personal tour, discovering the unique ‘treasures’ that makes up the great city of Hobart.
Branching slightly of my second idea.
